How do I replace a blown DRL on a 2015 Yeti

Featured Replies

Hi I am new to the forum. I have a 2015 Skoda Yeti with a blown Day Light Running bulb (DRL). My Mechanic told me the whole light will need to be replaced as the DRL sealed. Does any one know if this is correct or have any experience with replacing a DRL on a 2015 Yeti? Any advise would be appreciated.

Are they LEDs or incandescent

If they are the LED ones then the whole light unit needs replacing, if a the other type the bulb is accessible through the back of the light unit.

If it’s a bulb it’s a tricky job and smaller hands are better. I’ve done both sides, follow the cable down inside the housing (the rear covers twist and come off), then pull the bulb out, costly for a replacement bulb though!

My dealer wanted to remove the bumper / headlight to do it, bit of dexterity on my behalf and 10 mins, job done.

The fuse box on the near side (UK) makes it much more tricky.

Thanks , Meyannos and Llanigraham my  2015 Yeti has LED Daytime Running Lights, so I will need to replace the whole Light unit.

Both left and right Daytime Running Lights are now blown.

Does anyone know where I can purchase the light units cheap?

Thanks to the forum I have, at last, managed to replace the DRL on my 2015 Yeti Outdoor. A few tips which might be useful. If replacing the nearside one, Remove the fuse box cover, as it gives you a little more room to work (A piece of rag  placed over the end of the fuse box might be useful to protect against sharp edges). A small, cold hand will also be useful, as space is very tight.

Secondly, make sure that the bulb is securely seated in the holder. Mine wasn't and fell off into the lens area! Somehow I managed to retrieve it, using a gadget that was given to me about 15 years ago and never used before-namely a mega pick up tool. This is an extendable rod, with a vary strong magnet on the end. It folds up to the size of a pen.

Finally, when replacing the light unit into the headlamp unit, I turned on the sidelights, to give me a better view from the front, for positioning the unit into the aperture.

I find it strange that the LED light has failed and extraordinary that 2 have failed.
