Fabia vrs

Featured Replies

Hi all, just bought this and take delivery this Friday.

Has it been on here before?

Its on 35000 miles and not sure about options list but Ive spotted the following,

Swing audio

Heated seats

Arm rest

Climatronic digital AC

Did they all have keep fit rear windows?

I have a few questions involving spark plugs and the breather mod so was hoping for some advice, I have obviously had a look but the spark plug recommendations are all quite old and there may be a newer better option?

Plans for the car are a remap and possibly lower it slightly as I think it sits a little too high, but apart from that just to enjoy the thing.

Spark plugs haven't changed much in the last hundred years or so, you should only fit Iridium spark plugs to your new VRS and change them frequently, however brand is largely irrelevant.

@Garytl1000Welcome to the forum.

?

How many previous registered keepers show on the V5?

Best get to know the car well and how good it might be before messing with a 10 year old car with a low mileage if it is a good one. Well IMO.

Beware of advice from those that know nothing about the Mk2 vRS Fabias.

That was the issue with many cars, mechanics or techs saying they work on cars and TSI's and they are all much the same.

Your car came with spark plugs that Skoda changed to different ones a while later and the gap for these was different.

They are still pretty crap with a CAVE engine as you have. Maybe look at the last pages of the pinned thread up top about Spark Plugs.

I recommend you go for the DENSO plugs of the type you will see in the thread.

See what are in when you are changing the plugs.

You will have no idea if the car is standard now or has a remap on it.

Maybe get it on a dyno before doing any tuning mods.

As to the Breather Mod, check your cars history as Skoda have it on the system.

Did it get Oil consumption tests carried out at Skoda's Expense ever.   If it had the Breather mod ans Software update it would have.

Has it had the Oil Squirters updated?

That should tell you if they paid to have your car done.

Check the spare tyre well and see if it had the Service Campaign '34F7' done on the DSG.

Check the cars history and see if the Engine was ever replaced by Skoda, or under warranty.

Check if the Service Campaign work was done on the heated seats / switch.

Check what springs and dampers it does have and see the condition, they might be replacements and quality, even if the car does sit high.

They did not all have manual rear windows, that is if somebody paid the option to have the electrics.

Hi thanks for the reply,

Car cost 6k,

1 previous owner,

I'll get it over to Skoda next week and get them to check on recalls/updates.

No mention of engine replacement in history.

I'll check the suspension when I take delivery and I'll get some Denso's ordered.

Don't worry I don't intend on messing with it much.

enjoy it as it is, get used to how she performs and how reliable she is before going near any maps "imo"

The MOT history looks good.    Maybe the keeper used Skoda and had stuff done when it should be done.

Personally a Skoda Dealership would be the last place i would have touch a good running or even a poorly running Twincharger.

Check the Service & Warranty History and make your excuses and leave.  As Journalist say when visiting a massage parlour.

If the service campaign '34F7' has not been done then i would leave it as is.

If the Heated Seats are outstanding i would get them done.  'Free'

PS

The Guides by @UrbanPanzerlike on the Spark Plug replacement will be of a great help if doing thing yourself.

I'll do my best to carry on the MOT history, not an advisory in its life very impressed.

I have a good VAG garage near to me that I trust so won't be visiting Skoda for anything other than a chat to check what's been done. Thanks for the spark plug guide.

Hi mate recommend the

NGK SPARK PLUG BKR7EIX

if you also want to upgrade the coil packs you can get an Audi R8 coil pack conversion kit this allows you to use the plugs without the need for gapping them 👍

£200 +

£200 or .... how much are Skoda approved garages charging for a engine + fitting 🤷🏻‍♂️

So let me get this straight.........

Your saying if we don't spend £200 + on R8 coil packs our engines will need replacing ?

I’m saying %90 of the engine posts on here where there engine have gone bye bye is spark plug \ coil pack related which is preventable by better spark / better burn it’s simple science don’t try and advocate stuff that is proven just to try and make yourself look better because your a tight ar*e who doesn’t want to pay £200 to solve a problem that is known

not trying to look good at all, don't know why you think that.

Additionally, you seem to have become abusive and agressive for no reason and I can assure you I am no tight ass but even if I was it has diddly squat to do with you.

What I disagree with is you suggesting that spending £200 on coil packs will stop engine issues, because it won't............. and yes your right 90% of the engine misfire issues are due it seems to plug failure, not nessessarily coil packs. and that "imo" is mostly due to the fact they cannot last the life they were expected to by the manufacturer, or they are simply an inferior product, hence they were "updated".

Read or believe what you want, no skin of my nose but I can certainly say that if you replace the plugs at lesser intervals with a better product you will most likely irradicate plug failure still using factory coil packs.

Offcourse there are other circumstances if you let one of these tuners **** with your car and increase combustion temperatures etc etc etc then "maybe" the R8 packs "may" help...who knows, maybe they just mask a problem added by a crap tune....who knows.

Google R8 coil packs and see how much "hype" is disgruntled by many on endless VAG forums.

Update time,

So had the car for around 5 days and have had the chance to give it a wash, get a few miles in and had a look over it. First impressions are it's a great drive and feels like new, the paintwork has had a bit of love over the years and scrubs up really well.

It doesn't have cruise control which I use quite a lot so might have to add this, also the drivers heated seat doesn't work but the passenger does so I'll have a root around under the seat when I get the chance to.

IMG_20210202_170002.jpg

mmm heated seats..................still debating this one................

Cruise, fitted to mine, did not really "need" it, just wanted to do it.

If the heat pad has failed you might be able to swap it with the working pad from the passenger side, before someone froths and sperges that it's a different part number, I reckon it'll be an easy mod to get it working despite any difference.

Is there a how to for cruise and maybe auto lights?

Dude, if you can't remember to turn your lights on when it gets dark you probably shouldn't be driving! B)

...and you might find a 'how to' for cruising on grindr

My best advice would be to head over to Mk2 Fabia Vrs facebook page if your on Facebook and want advice, This place is for people would argue about the colour of an orange.

Shame really as I'd imagine other parts of this forum are useful.

Mick Martin thanks I am on there as well, your right this does seem a slightly unnecessary hostile forum compared to others I've used previously.
