Canton system - can't listen to it

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

Just bought Skoda superb mk3 with canton music system. I have to say this is the worst music system i ever heard, all in middle range, so bright and annoying. Stupid EQ settings are unusable. In previous car i had hertz system which is 10 miles over it. Now, since I am a noob, I want to ask if there is anyone on this forum who has done an upgrade of canton system and what is the most cheapest way to do it? Thank you for all people who reply.

It seems that all canton owners are very happy with sound of that so called "system"....aren't you :) ?

Plenty of people are happy with the stock and canton systems. Or at least happy enough they don't want to spend money changing it.

As the connection between the headunit and amp is optical, the cheapest changes are likely to be replacing the speakers and adding sound deadening to the doors. Might be worth talking to an audio shop to see if they have recommendations?

This might help:

Thank you Sir for your answer. Well, thats something, now i know that connection to the amp is digital, so it seems either crossover is a problem or something else. Sound is so bright to my ears, I have to do something about it.

Hey Stenopus,

I'm firmly in your camp...

Cannot listen to the Canton system for good music.

But unfortunately I won't be going for the cheap option to fix

Car is going in for a full Audison DSP and amp system to drive Hertz Mille Legend 3 ways, including moving the mids and highs to the A pillars.

Won't comment on other peoples ears, but if coming from high car audio the Canton just does not stack up, would hate to hear the stock system...

Full details of the build will follow.

I'd love to know what your planning, you gear and how your installing it

DSP - Audison Virtuoso

2 x Amps - Audison Voce AV 5.1 HD and Due

All under boot false floor

Sub - Audison Voce 10

Custom enclosure rear left quarter of the boot (estate car here)

Woofers in doors - Hertz Mille Legend 1800.3

Mid and High - Hertz Mille Legend 280.3 and 700.3 in the A pillars

Plus a load of sound deadening (Good job it's a 280 4x4 with a Revo Stage 1 power upgrade... hehehe)

Certainly not cheap, but to my ears and the length I am planning on keeping the car, more than worth it...

Last 2 estates I've had I did competition grade installs and can't live without the quality again.

Not doing this install myself, which is a shame, but bad back wouldn't hold up to it.
