Rear Bumper Protector

Recommended Posts

I'm after something to protect the boot lip like this http://www.kopacek.com/Skoda/SUPERB/Superb-II-Combi-basic-black-ABS-rear-bumper-protective-panel-Martinek-Auto

But some say they are for pre facelift, other say for the 2009-2015 .... are they different fitments or just labeled different due to year they were produced?

I have a Superb 3t Combi 2014

Ideally I want the original but can't find it anywhere, guess it's a little old now :(

Thanks

I own the same car model and can tell that the shape is different (which I discovered after ordering the same one as you).

In the end I purchased one from Poland via a company called car parts experts ( https://www.carparts-expert.com/shop/skoda-superb-ii-combi-3t-2013-2015-wagon-rear-bumper-protector-stainless-steel-black-detail.html?redirected=147 )

I selected a dark one so to be low key and match with the car black colour.

https://avisa.pl/en/rear-bumper-protectors-brushed-steel/

It is of a much better quality (good metal) than the one you mention.

__BUT__ you will need to purchase a separate bottle of 3M degreaser because the small wipe which ships with the protector is not enough.

https://www.sealantsandtoolsdirect.co.uk/manufacturers/3m_/3m_08984_general_purpose_adhesive_cleaner_1_litre_P30084.html

Also keep in mind that you only have one try when you fit it or it won't stay.

It has been on my car for a little bit more than a year and performs as advertised. Really a good investment.

Right now it is dark outside, thus will take a picture tomorrow for you to see how it looks like after more than one year of usage.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the feedback. I'll be careful which one I order then, are you able to post a picture for me what is looks like?

My car is the VW grey so nothing will blend in well, was thinking just a black plastic one as I use my car for fishing and it will 100% get scratched.

Also have you or any one else used this brand before?

Yes, I'll post pictures tomorrow :-)

Plastic one, I had on a peugeot 307SW, yeurk!

The neighbohr also has a plastic one fitted on its Volvo V50.

Problem is that, although they are cheap, after a few years of abuse they really look bad.

While those metal ones still look great (this may also why they can usually be found on higher end vehicles) like XC90 or X5 as stock mount

As for low key or high key, it all depends. I would say that the dark metal will look tough on your car :-)

Just a matter of taste of course.

Thus, even if the total cost was about 100EUR, the saying that "Cost is long forgotten but quality stays" is very true.

Here are the pictures

(sorry car bumper lid not very clean, Winter look)

As you can see, it protects the bumper very well and looks good too.

I am curious to see how the protector would look like on your VW Grey car

  • 3 weeks later...

Installed the other day. Hopefully this will do the job and doesn't look too bad, maybe the darker colour would have worked too.

A small paint chip from the previous owner on the far right, now to buy touch up paint, the work is never done!

My understanding is that it could be possible to purchase directly from the manufacturer or to import it from a dealer in Poland.

https://avisa.pl/en/rear-bumper-protectors-black-steel/

From my experience it is really dependable and manufactured to very high quality standards thus worth the effort

Could be a possiblity.

Like they say: if it seems stupid but it works, then it is not stupid.

What do fellow members think of the idea?

I agree and I was lucky that I got that exact brand you specified. Buying from another seller may mean you get an inferior copy.

I bought mine from superskoda. it cost 51 euros delivered so that's about £44

they have a nice range of skoda bits and often have 20% off days

here is the web address for it
