Glow plug light flashing / Check Engine problems

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a Rapid 2014 1,6 TDI @89000km  that I bought a year ago.

First year it was running great but couple of days ago It started to behave not normal

Was driving back from work on the high way, when after 10min  Glow plug light started to flash. I stopped on the nearest exit and shut down the car. I started the car

and glow plug was not flashing anymore. Well great I thought maybe it was a hick up :)

Then just when I was about to exit the high way again ( 10 min later) to pull over to my place it started flashing again. And same thing when o drove into my garage and shut down the car and turned it on again the plug light was not flashing any more.

Next day I went to work same thing exited the high way to work and baaam glow plug light flashing and check engine and stop/start error. Well time to check it out at nearest mech.

Error codes

P010100 - Mass Air Flow - Implausible Signal

P227900 - Intake air system leak

P15A100 - Neutral gear sensor implausible signal

This weekend I started to work on my car.

Removed and cleaned the MAF, checked for cracks and leaks on the tube from intake ->MAF->Turbo could no see any leaks or cracks.

The neutral sensor I guess its bad due to start/stop error needs to change only 20 euros though

So I took the car to my father in law he got a ODB2 reader we cleared all the codes to see if the cleaning of the MAF did the work.. Yeee after 30min driving on the high way all good until I exit the high way and glow plug light started to flash again. Hmmm why did it start to flash as soon I started to brake?  This happened every time.. I drive 100km/h start to exit the highway, brake and glow plug light starts to flash.

Could P0101 and P2279  be trigged for a other reason? both of them seems to be tied together in some way

The car runs great it's now -10C here where I live, and the car starts every time on first try.

Bad break light switch?

Bad MAF?

Cracks or leak that needs to be checked again with pressure/smoke?

/P

Checked the MAF again.

I didn't see any air temp sensors! When I am looking for spare part some site are selling with and without air temp sensors in the MAF

  • 3 weeks later...

The MAF Implausible signal can also be an indication of a sticking EGR valve, which is a common occurrence on this engine.

Suggest the EGR probably needs replacing, or fit an EGR Emulator to disable it.

1. Problem was faulty MAF

2. A rip in a rubber pipe/hose underneath the car. That caused the P227900 - Intake air system leak error I guess I had drive over a ice block or something that made the rip/hole

So new MAF  and a new pipe fixed the problem.

70 euros for MAF and 100euros for the rubber hose/pipe
