Anyone know what Battery Voltage (EFB+) there should be?

Featured Replies

Anyone know what voltage I should expect from a EFB+ Battery on the super? Get around 11.9/12.1v is this normal?

Depends on the circumstances. When did you take the measurement? When was the engine last run?

Yesterday 40 mile trip, left overnight. Voltage next morning

Funnily enough mine warned me of low battery today when I went to update a DAB logo and had to turn the ignition on to turn on the radio.

Voltage measured at battery was 11.7v so it's now on charge with my CTek charger.

And only an hour later it says it's charged even though final state is 12.07v.

I think it's new battery time

Im new to more modern skodas, so am note sure what is "normal" behaviour. My car seem to display a warning very quickly (if the radio is used without the engine etc), and on botth ocassions has lead to a "sos emergency fault" fault that does not clear.

The voltage is around the same as yours, but the dealer claims the battery is fine. I am starting to think that the car is designed not to fully charge the battery - but only put sufficient power in to start it next time? What are others finding? Start Stop cuts aafter a short run,  which I would image would disable if it felt the battery was on the way out?

Modern cars mostly charge the battery when the engine is on overrun, or when braking, and  by not having the alternator sapping engine power during normal running saves fuel. To allow this process the battery is normally kept at 80% charge to allow some capacity for the alternator to dump energy whilst braking or during engine overrun.

Brake Energy Recovery in detail. 3 seperate recordings of voltage and current on the VAG “Smart” alternator. Very interesting the wide scope of both voltage and current across the 3 seperate runs. Equipment used to takes recordings was Fluke AC/DC Volt meter and Fluke DC current meter. Both meters able to record live data.

Voltage data recorded directly from battery positive terminal and negative earth connection on the firewall. Current recorded directly from main positive cable 100mm from positive battery terminal.

All three runs were over a total of 100+km distance incorporating Urban, highway, and back street roads.

How old is the battery? sounds like its a bit tired to me. Have you scanned the car for fault codes at all? sometimes if the battery is past it you get sporadic codes for low voltage on some modules.
