Electric boot struts - maintenance, replacement?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, a quick one. Is there anything I can do to help extend the life of my struts on my 2015 Octavia estate? I can see them going way slower than on newer Octavias and being much louder. Any kind of lubrication possible or cleaning?

And also when they finally give up the ghost, I'm given to understand that the cheapest new set is around 600€? Can I just plop in regular gas struts and live on with out an electric boot? Any coding needed?

Anyone?

Probably can be swapped easily for Gas Struts. Think about €60 each side. Never done it, so you will have to check the pivot mounts are compatible. If you fancy trying to repair them have a look here.

I was thinking more in the was of drowning them in some sort of silicone lubricant to help them along. :) But once they crap out, they are out. Regular going in, 100%.

It will be the sealed motors assembly as per the video. I doubt you can lubricate anything that would make a difference.
