I saw this in the Octy accessory booklet, and one fitted to an Octy Estate and liked the idea. (It lifts the boot floor up to the same level as the folded rear seats and provides a shallow storage area for brief cases, rugs etc.)

So I ordered one several weeks ago, and it finally arrived today. But...

When I got it home and found the assembly instructions I found that Skoda were very insistant that it should only be fitted by Skoda agents! Reading the instructions, you need to remove the rear seats on the hatchback (not the estate though) to get the old boot flooring out so you can fit the new one. You also have to pop-rivet mountings in place to take the sides of the new false floor.

Having had a look, although the central hinge for the rear seats is visible, there are also side hinges which need the side trim removing before you can get at them. So I've had to book it back in at my dealers for them to fit it - estimated as

Once its fitted you wont look back - I have one in my eleg Estate - its excellent.

I would not be without it - I can load a full compass (88 note) piano into the boot of my Octavia estate, without twisting my back and damaging the piano.

Why not take this up with Skoda Customer Service and see if you can get a refund of the fitting price? The Accessories booklet highlights other accessories which need fitting and states: * Please ask your Retailer for a fitted price. Like you I would have assumed that fitting the false floor was a DIY task since there is no such note to indicate otherwise.

I've had it fitted now, and as you say it looks great. But the fitter at Autosales agreed it's a sod to fit and couldn't understand why the hatch version is so much harder to fit than the estate's.

Taking up the point about the accessory booklet identifying parts that need to be fitted by dealers...

The latest (green cover) issue, seems a bit vague on which parts need to be fitted by the dealers. It doesn't have the * sign against the body kits, or leather steering wheel for example - but as the inside page states "Many of the products featured here will require fitting by your local retailer or autorised repairer so you should always ask for a fitted price - our RPS's printed her are for guidance only." I doubt that they'd give me a refund on those grounds. At least Autosales gave me a 5% discount when I bought it!

Yes that false floor is very useful not only can you store things under it like those collapsible crates, but also very handy to store those things you want to keep out of sight from prying eyes.

Those two storage cubby holes on the back of the Estate are also very useful and hold a fair bit of stuff.
