Hi guys

I’m new to the forum , and I’m hoping somebody has Experienced the issues I’m having on my car and can help.
it has a sharp squeak noise when pressing the throttle it’s not the exhaust but sound like it’s coming from the engine Mount I can make it do the sound just by simply touching the accelerator sometimes . I’ve also been told it could be coming from the transmission. Trying to narrow down what the problem is does anyone have an idea what it could be ? Many thanks Chris

Thanks for the advice , I believe I had this done at the same time I had the timing chain replaced , could you think of any other possible faults ?

As Thomas said, It could be the water pump/supercharger engaging,  I tend to hear this in cold weather before the cars heated up then disappears. have you noticed it disappears after driving a while? I posted a similar post about 3 years  on here as it i could clearly hear it with driver window down ad particular in first gear when setting off.

Possible to record the sound?

Why was the timing chain replaced on a 2014 MY car ?

thats where I would be looking.

It was very loose when it went for mot and this is separate because it was doing this noise before then. It drives but on the pull when accelerating it does that strange chirping noise ??

not sure how an MOT would pick up a loose timing chain unless had become very noisy / had a rattle, even then it plays no part on the MOT........does it have a high mileage ?

Anyway, I know it sounds obvious but its either something that "moves" or flexes when the engine twists rearwards as you accelerate, OR it's something already spinning which "catches" when the engine throttles / speeds up

My first port of call would be to have a look at the dog bone / pendulum rear engine mounting, if thats worn its possible that could be it, it's at the back on the bottom of the engine. Check its all sound and not worn, ie the rubber has not

perished and it's on metal to metal which contacts as the engine twists backwards.

Yeh it’s coming to 89,000 but I can’t remember what the symptoms were with the timing chain it was stressful as I had just got the car. But it for sure needed fixing.

I will check this ASAP it does make sense what you are saying , I’ll let you know how I get on. I’m taking it to the garage on Wednesday for some new wheel bearings on the front end. Just trying to get the car how it should be .  Thanks for your message!
