Retrofit ACC

Featured Replies

Hi there,

This is my first post so any apologizes for asking something that is basic or might have been answer already but I could not find it.

I am thinking on doing an ACC retrofit on my Skoda and from what I have search is possible to do it but I have two questions:

1) Any reason why vag workshop are not doing it and make money with software changes?

2) If vag is not make money and is possible some will do it :) therefore there are some folks doing coding remotely (I have Front assist and will need to add the stalk + all the coding.).  What is not my clear to me from what I have search is what exactly is done on the car and what is the risks that I am taking on doing those changes?

Can anyone help me out here to understand what is being changed or pointing to some place where I can learn?

Thanks

VAG/Skoda would rather sell you a new car with ACC :D

Retrofitting ACC is certainly possible, the biggest risks are if the coding, parameterisation or calibration aren't done correctly. It means you may get unexpected behaviour. I think you'll also need to replace the front assist radar with a ACC radar. If you choose a decent retrofitter, it will probably be fine.

You should probably take a look on drive2 or the ross-tech forums to see if you can find ACC coding applicable to your car.

I'm tinkering to do just this, I'm trying to add ACC to my MY16 Octavia Scout.  Opinion varies greatly on how easy it will be.  In my case the parts are quite cheap as I either had the parts anyway or needed to replace them in any case.  It's a very low priority background project for me that I only look at when I have free time.  I spent hours messing around just to access the BCM plugs for another reason at the weekend and that has put me of touching the bloody car again for at least a few weeks!

Doesn't getting retrofitted ACC require a FEC code for it to work and for the coding changes not to produce fault codes?

I can remember several threads (here and elsewhere) where owners have tried to downgrade from ACC to CC and found it needed a FEC as both types of cruise control have separate FEC codes - and neither work without the appropriate FEC code.

Yup, I believe it does need some extra FeC/SWaP codes but it seems well understood if you choose the right retrofitter.

These guys seem to do loads: https://www.facebook.com/vagretrofitcoding/
