Flakey paint!!

Featured Replies

I've just finished washing my car and noticed that the paint on the front bumper is starting to flake off in between the join in the middle of the bumper:eek: Anyone else had this problem? Surely this will be repaired under warranty eh?

yep, should be covered under the warranty no problem,

Mine is doing the same on rear bumper join, although I think it may just be the lacquer.Painted/lacquered plastic on vag cars seems to do this.

My friendly dealer says he should be able to sort it next service ( the paintwork hasn't been modified btw):D

I am talking to the dealer about it this week. I would be very very surprised if it wasn'r covered under the 10 year anti perf warranty.

the paintwork warranty is 3 yrs iirc, and the anti perforation warranty which is for 10 years does what it says on the tin, you actually need perforation.

If you are outside the 3yr paint waranty then i assume it would be carried out as good gesture because it deffo doesnt look like any fault of your own.

3 yrs is fine. The car is a 55 plate.

oh bugger mines is 6

mine looks very similar to yours Decron though the area affected is smaller. I'm going to mention this at the 40k service - does anyone know if the proper fix for this would require a full bumper respray or could it be touched up? Just checking so I know what to push for...

Exactly like that mate!! I'm going to the dealers 2moro with it to see what they say. I'll keep you posted:thumbup:

I've got it too, but mine's just out of warranty :(

Mine was doing this on both sides of the bumper - got the bumper resprayed under warranty (no more stone chips either)!

I posted a thread sometime ago about it

my is doing the same aswell! let us know how it goes with the dealer as i wouldnt mind getting mine done aswell

Woo, I actually have a month left on my warranty! Off to the dealers to see if they fancy fixing it for me :-)

mine has the same too, i brought mine second hand and came with the soda used one year warranty, is the paint covered in this too and also i assume that when they repaint it it will match the red (probably faded) paintwork

update: the warranty work on my bumper has been approved, dealer said they had another one like this before too.

So check your bumper paint to make sure its not happened to yours - I only noticed when I washed it and looked up close - check along the join as per the picture posted earlier....

Mine is being seen on friday when the replace my front wheel bearing, but they will apparently have to wait for an assesor from Skoda to look at it

Hmmm. It seems to be too common to be a crap luck. Looks like a factory process issue to me.

Not happy :(

Good news that they have recoginised this as a problem.

Just had it back from the body shop.

All sorted under warranty and the warranty assesor didn't need to get involved (Had a few examples?) .

Took two days and had a Ford focus 1.6 Sport in the mean time (A very disapointing vehicle)

I've got this same problem....

Mine should be going in in a couple of weeks.

mines been in today and should be coming back tomorrow - hope they've made a good job of it:)
