Octavia estate 2011 Front brake pads

Featured Replies

Hi. I've bought some brembo front pads which have sensor wires, but my car doesn't seem to have the plugs there and the existing pads don't have them.  The store said that they are all like this on these models. Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks

According to autodoc the Octavia MK2 1.6TDI came with either 280mm diameter front brake discs or 288mm diameter front brake discs. Which are fitted to your car?

Build code 1ZF or 1ZM means that you have 280mm diameter front brake discs.

Build code 1ZE means that you have 288mm diameter front brake discs.

You will probably find these build codes on a white label that was stuck in your boot area under the carpet by the factory.

Alternatively, you can measure the thickness of one of the front brake discs. The 280mm diameter front brake discs are 22mm thick when new, and the 288mm diameter front brake discs are 25mm thick when new. Or measure the diameter of one of the brake discs.

Alternatively, what is the make and model number of the front brake pads that you have purchased?

The previous owner might of just cut the sensor wire and coded them out.  Have a look at front nearside to see if there is any sensor lead left unplugged.

Our 2012 Octavia Estate 1.2tsi SE (280mm discs) didnt have a brake sensor connection. Pads supplied by GSF came with sensor wire, just cut it off and fit the pads.

Our 2009 Fabia 2 1.2htp hatch (256mm discs) has a brake sensor connector fitted.

Our 2013 Fabia 1.2tsi SE estate (same 256mm discs), no sensor connector so cut wire off pads.

So doesn't seem to have any particular pattern. The sensor connector if fitted is on the left side (uk passenger side) near top of brake shield.
