Retrofit bigger screen

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I recently bought a MK3 Superb (year 2016)
It came with a smaller screen (6.5 inches I think), and I wondered if it's possible to install a bigger one (8 inches I guess)

I dug a a little on the forum and found a lot of the same topics, but in the end I'm not sure if that is possible or not.
Can someone answer me if it's possible just to install bigger screen without any other modifications?

I will attach the screenshot of the hardware version I found in the settings.

Yes it's possible.

You can swap to the larger MIB2 screen just by buying the larger screen.

I don't think you'll be able to upgrade to MIB2.5 as this is only possible with the top of the range Columbus system. Unless you swap out the entire head unit and screen.

Thank you for your reply.
I was not sure if my unit is MIB1 or MIB2 (it's all new to me)
So I guess I should look for part number 3V0919606.

Do you know where I could find a tutorial on how to remove the screen?
Thanks in advance.

Yes that's the right screen. It's really easy to remove the screen, you just need to use some removal tools.

The pack comes with 4 metal tools - one goes into a slot of each corner and clicks into place. When it's clicked the screen is 'unlocked' and you can pull it out. Unplug the wires at the back, then remove. Plug the wires into the new unit then slide into the gap and it will click (lock) into place. Job done.

If you car is 2016 it will be MIB2

Well, the date of first registration is 2016, but I'm not sure if the production date is also 2016.
I guess there is a way to check that, but I don't know how

And thanks for the information about the removal tools, I will order them.
