Hesitation at 1600-1800 rpm

Featured Replies

I have a BLT engined Fabia Vrs and have noticed it has a hesitation like a hiccup at 1600-1800 rpm.

Is this a common issue with the Fabia as this is my first VRS and I'm not sure whether it's something sinister.

Any help appreciated.

You can fit the 11mm EGR reducer gasket which apparently improves matters.

I can be reasonably sure that Tesco's doesn't stick that item. :wait:

Sense of humour bypass?

I just presumed you'd got one of the major parts suppliers mixed up with where you did your shopping. :tongueout:

I had this hesitate/stutter at the same rpm as OP. EGR system was removed and delete in the map.

No more stutter/hesitation.

You can get an EGR blanking plate of ebay for roughly £3, and then drill a hole in the middle of it to the required size.

As mentioned above, it wants to be an Ø11mm hole.

I read about this on fabia.VRS.com

Topic is discussed elsewhere on this forum.

I contacted Dark side motors 'up road from me' in sunny Yorkshire.

They said adding a smaller diameter hole in gasket than present would result in it blocking sooner if EGR retained.

That made sense and I lived with it.

Cleaning EGR annually will help perhaps. I bought some stuff bristled brushes to clean out the gunk from my car's EGR. Just watch no metal gets pushed into manifold.

3 Allen key bolts to remove ASV and gain access to EGR. One hour's work once you done it before. The EGR speeds up warm up of car coolant and engine oil so I didn't want to blank off. Also, might be an MOT fail on emissions?
