New to octavia in need of advice please

Featured Replies

Hi all new to the forum..I have a octy 2006 vrs tfsi...since I've had it I've noticed one thing other then that I'm already a massive fan of them however when I take my foot off the clutch after changing gears the pressure of the release changes almost goes soft and doesn't spring out.this happens once every now and again.it never stays in just changes..I've checked to see if clutch is slipping and nothing...always bites same place and strong but on release it feels weird at times..doesn't seem normal..any clever peeps here that can help me locate the problem if its one would be appreciated

Try bleeding the clutch with a pressure bleeder.

Bleeding may help initially help but the problem is a failing master cylinder, if the fluid expelled is black you are on borrowed time.

Replacement is a relatively cheap and easy job, well the second time its easy, the first isn't as you are working blind most of the time.

Reading your post again, if the feeling of lightness is only on release, if when you next use the clutch it feels normal with no free play then the problem is a small particle from the failing master cylinder is obstructing the metered hole in the return valve in the clutch blled block which VAG call the clutch torque limiter.

Bleeding will probably dislodge the particle but if the fluid was black then the above advice holds.

Thanx for the advice...should I just get the clutch master cylinder replaced? To save trouble...its defiently a weird feeling at times when I release the clutch pedal almost feels spongy half way up
