Previously Owned Cars

Featured Replies

Has anyone ever wondered what has happened to any previously owned cars?

I had a dream last night about my old 'R' reg Punto. I found it was for sale, so I bought it back for my bro who has not long passed his driving test.

Is it possible to track down your old cars to see if they are in someone elses ownership or if they might have even gone to the great scrapyard in the sky?

Spent many a happy time with the Punto - my 3rd car but one which I first had lots of electrical gubbins to play with.

Those were the days....:)

Afair you can go onto the dvla site, and if you key in a reg. no. it tells you if the car is taxed or sorned or not.

Most of my old cars are long dead!

Hi

I have seen a couple of mine locally still in use. The Senator is still going (and fast by the look of it). It had 160,000 or more on the clock when I sold it. I also regualrly see two of my old 1.4zetec Fiestas around.

A modded family II Vauxhall engine of mine is still propelling stuff round a circuit at weekends as well AFAIK.

Saw my old Scooby re-advertised in the local papers last year and I saw our old Corsa knocking about down the road from where I used to live. No idea where my other cars have gone

Yeah just checked it, its an old link I had and used to be free..lol

Ta Lorna, I knew it was on there somewhere.

it dosent give as much info as the one you have to pay for obv but it gives some info.

Forgot my Fabia which is now owned by another Briskodian (for the time being anyway!) :D

I had a call from HPI a couple of months ago, asking me if I could confirm the mileage as being correct on a Pug 406 I used to own, they said it is reading 47k.

I said I could not confirm that as it had over 200k on it when I rolled it into a ditch!! the poor woman didn't know what to say!

Edit.

Hmm, thats interesting, just typed its reg no into that RAC thing, I was the 3rd owner but it states 1 previous owner and has no mention of the fact it was thoroughly and comprehensively written of by myself?

Either some dodgy goings on with that car or the info isn't correct, the last owner change is roughly the date I wrote it off!

It's P797 BPH if anyones interested.

Thanks to all who posted replies, your know-how is much appreciated! :D

I've punched in all my previous cars' registrations and they all seem to be chugging around somewhere.

I read a snippet in The Sun about a year ago that a guy had gone on holiday to Crete, and the taxi he took from the airport was - you've guessed it - his old car. Six degrees of separation or what?

Same thing happend to a guy at work. He traded in his 150K miles corrado to get a Golf VR6 at the local VW dealer. 2 months later, woman rang up, "Can I confirm your car has only done 40K?". By this time, the car had been sold on by the VW dealer to someone else, who had clocked it.:thumbdwn:

This car had also spent some time it ditches, but never written off.:P

My Octavia vRS sat on a forecourt from Aug 05 until Jan 06. My Dad's old "G" plate Volvo 740 GL is still going strong, I have spotted it a couple of times myself in the last few years on the A9 around Perth.

Either my other cars have been scrapped a long time ago or I'm not remembering the registrations correctly !

Two out of five previous cars are dead, a metro and an escort. So no big loss there.
