Superb Estate iV 2021 - Questions

Featured Replies

Hi All

I haven’t been on for a while as I had my vehicle ordered back in October last year.

I take delivery this week and now the iV has been out for a while and some of you have been driving them for a bit just have a couple of questions.

I will have the L&K version in Quartz Grey.

1. Anybody got a picture of the 3 Pin U.K. Charging Cable it comes with just interested to see it and the length.

2. A couple of things were removed from the iV versions like Torch and Umbrella. Is the Umbrella slot/hold still in the door where I could put my own or is it covered over.

3. I’ll be driving purely in Hybrid mode as it’s for work and I’ll be doing longer miles each day, any feedback on 200 mile round trips or longer would be good. Just want to see how the battery has been lasting for you in these types of trips. Do you have to charge everyday.

4. Mine is a 21 plate, is the infotainment system that comes with it then ‘New’Columbus 9.2 or 10inch screen.

5. any other tips that you have come across would be welcomed as it’s my first hybrid/electric car.

Interested on the feed back as mine arrives in a couple of weeks :D

Hi,

mine is the 2020 version so some bits may not be the same

1. Anybody got a picture of the 3 Pin U.K. Charging Cable it comes with just interested to see it and the length. No but it is a two stage affair the input is about 1M then the "lump" then about 3M of output cable. It is slower to charge off this cable than a fixed point as I think it limits to 10A

2. A couple of things were removed from the iV versions like Torch and Umbrella. Is the Umbrella slot/hold still in the door where I could put my own or is it covered over. The holders were in both doors on mine but only came with one so said to the dealer I was keeping the passenger one from my PX. Mine did have the torch

3. I’ll be driving purely in Hybrid mode as it’s for work and I’ll be doing longer miles each day, any feedback on 200 mile round trips or longer would be good. Just want to see how the battery has been lasting for you in these types of trips. Do you have to charge everyday. You will get better range out of the battery if you use the Sat Nav all the time as it links to the hybrid system to know when is best to use the battery. You can also increase the range by "tapping" the gear stick back to use regenerative braking (I much prefer this mode as it decelerates more like a normal engine) Yes you will need to charge every day.

4. Mine is a 21 plate, is the infotainment system that comes with it then ‘New’Columbus 9.2 or 10inch screen. Not sure on the size but it is the new MIB3 which has some bad bits (radio logos) but this may get fixed as many people are complaining.

5. any other tips that you have come across would be welcomed as it’s my first hybrid/electric car. There seem to be many undocumented features, one is if you have the regenerative braking on and sport mode it will act the same as a standard non plug-in hybrid and use the engine to charge the battery (does knock the fuel consumption a bit)  Let us know any you find

Thanks mate, good feedback.

I’ll be happy to share once I have it and use it for a bit.

Had a Passat GTE since December. Not a superb but on the same platform.

Can't really answer the Skoda specific stuff but point 3 I can shed some light.

I have been driving to my late father's place weekly which is 120 miles each way. Most of my in-week miles are electric.

Longer trip mpg is in the 55mpg region with a full charge. This reduces the further you drive as you are less able to lean on the battery.

When I picked up the car I had a few days of no charging and managed a regular 45mpg. Where the hybrid system will shine, if unable to charge, is shorter journeys as the more stop/start nature will be able to shut off the engine when not needed.

Got my car today, feeling quite overwhelmed with all the digital options, it’s like a computer.

Once I work them out though it will be fine.

Haven’t had a good dive or look around it yet, but did noticed the umbrella is in the passengers door.

Hi all had my iV for a little over a week now and with the morning frosts in May! I am struggling to defrost the vehicle before use.

I have set a charging plan and enabled the AC setting the temp to 22, this all appears to work except the vehicle does not heat up at all.

Getting in the car and turning the ignition on, while plugged in, I have tried setting the climate control to defrost / demist on full heat, again all the fans come on but no heat.

Same again when unplugged.

I have been following the user handbook and it suggest that there is an electric heater to assist in this but the switch referred to is not there suggesting this is an optional extra?

Your thoughts and suggestions would be most welcome.

The 3 pin charging cable is about 6m from plug to plug including the box that does the magic. I have screwed several large hooks into the garage wall to keep it off the floor.

Umbrella slot in both doors but only one umbrella. We kept them off the previous Superb since we are tight gits.

Ours is the SE Tech and no torch, the previous Superb was a SE and that did have a torch. Won't miss it, in almost 4 years we never used it.

We will know for definite next Saturday when we do our first 430 mile trip but based on experience for shorter trips (up to 100 miles) it looks like the battery should last about 200 miles on the motorway at 70 mph in hybrid mode. But that was several months ago and now it getting warmer hopefully it might last longer.

No idea what media the L & K has/had.

We put ours in "B" mode every time we drive it. Really like the dynamic brake feel, just like driving a manual with engine braking. How much electrickery it makes I have no idea but every little helps.

Just set it to charge overnight for the first time on Octopus GO. Looked at all the available deals and whilst some did slightly cheaper off peak electricity you paid way more for peak and way way more for gas. Its 5p/kWh off peak 0030 to 0430, 13.45p/kWh peak and 2.8/kWh gas. Put our expected usage onto a spread sheet and it was no contest.
