Removing drivers seat

Featured Replies

Hello  I have a 2010 Scout octavia estate. I am not at all practical so would welcome advice on how to remove drivers seat .. I tried using a T50 on the seat runners but no joy in removing as they are rusted and the t50 seemed slightly to small .And am I actually doing this correctly?  Big thanks Kenny

I suspect you'll find the bolts aren't 6-point Torx but 12-point XZN (also known as triple square) which are often used by VAG for larger or higher torque fasteners.  Using a Torx bit _may_ remove an XZN bolt but will most likely chew up the head and make it unuseable.

Amtech does a cheap set - OK if you don't abuse the bits and don't want to use them daily. Euro offers them for 9 squid but I'm sure a quick Google{tm} will  provide other offers.

Be careful when it comes to putting it back too. The seats are heavy, so it's not that easy to give them slight nudges to line up bolt hole perfectly with the captive nut.

Get it starting at an un-noticed angle and cross-threading nightmares may follow rapidly.

on a similar note...

is there a torque setting for the seat bolts,

i must take out 2 to put in car seat tether anchors (instead of the pita anchor ties)

According to Mr Haynes it's 40 Nm / 30 lbft for the Octy 2.
