ELECTRIC WINDOWS

Featured Replies

Hi to all

Having had my Roomster since Feb 2019 I posted about some problems I had after about three weeks of ownership.

With the help of Briskoda got the jobs done.

Since then I have had the problem with the electric windows not working just as we entered winter and lots of rain.

Just like others have said about water affecting things. So back to Briskoda did some home work and tried all the suggestions

that everyone had posted.

On this occasion it didn't get them working again. So suffered not being able to open them until weather was better so I could

remove the door card to get at the motor.

I had read about changing the relay on the pcb which is what i was going to try next.

sorry this long winded.

Some years ago I had a PS1 that suffered the black screen death. The fix was to take out the pcb card and heat it up as the solder

cracked and created the problem. I did this and it worked for a time.

With this in mind I did the same thing to the pcb  on the drivers side window motor. It worked .

How ever both windows would work from the drivers switch. But the passenger window would not operate from the passenger side switch.

So I was going to do the same to that pcb. When I had removed the door card I reconnected the switch and it started to work.

Long story short they have now been working for the last three days and we haven't had any rain. Only time will tell.

I used a heat gun and flashed across the board so it wasn't direct heat in one spot. Also it wasn't to the point that the solder melted but was

hot enough that I couldn't pick it up. It was only about two minutes at the most if that. That I had the gun on the board. I didn't have any thing to loose by trying it.

On doing my home work I didn't come across this in any post. so sorry if someone else has put it on and i have missed it.

But wanted to share what I had done and it may help someone else. Also only my front windows are electric.

This is a great tip Twiny, I will give this a go! I had the same window problem you describe and have actually ended up bodging it a bit by fitting a new switch and powering the motor directly, but I will give the PCB a flash as you suggest and put it back in to see if that helps me too.

Nice work!

Please read my electric windows update post if you haven't already. Just about to add to it.

Thanks Rob
