Start stop errors

Featured Replies

Hi,

my petrol VRs 2013 has developed an error with the start/stop, The engine is also cutting out with the following message on the dashboard “please start manually” The car also seems to be idel abit rough on start up.

battery appears fine when tested. The timing chain was changed at 60k miles car has covered 82k to date.

any help would be great

Has the car been re-mapped?
Do you know anyone that can plug in a diagnostic via OBD?

Why was the timing chain changed? I was told by Skoda that the VRS has internal chain that never needs replacing.

It could be a lot of things. As said above you are best getting the car scanned or buy your own such as OBDELEVEN. I have that and it has paid for itself with some issues I had that would have needed a garage.

Rough idle can be a broken PCV, certainly they were an issue on my mk2. But a simple one to check is the oil dipstick out, as that can cause rough idle and poor engine running.

If you can get some readings from the CANBUS system (via ODBELEVEN or VCDS, that would be amazing). That will give us info about what the car is unhappy about.

my TSI had something similar recently and it was the intake air temperature sensor. But it came with an error on the dash.
