They have a little roof spoiler on the roof looks to be the same idea as the mk1 vrs so its a very minor difference from a standard car. Unless they all come with that little 'spoiler' on the back. I could be mistaken.

Edit: Went out and took a pic of the "spoiler" on mine.

I happened to buy a sales brochure for A monte carlo on eBay last year and in the standard equipment section it says

"Black roof and Tailgate spoiler" so I imagine it is different.

Oh I see, I like that actually, might see if I can get my hands on one in the future as I plan on getting the roof wrapped at some point so it'll be a nice addition when that point comes. So many subtle little differences between these cars it's unreal!

Would bet that its the same spoiler that a mk2 vRS has, I dont have any part numbers for it but maybe you could ring up a few scrapyards and see if they have a vrs or monte in? It looks like an adhesive job so I imagine it would be easy to install if you found one. Would imagine a scrappy would rather you buy the whole boot off them but no harm in trying.

Greenline spoilers look good too, wonder how it would look with the diffuser on Coops car.

I think it would look pretty good. Can't decide if it should be in black or red though. Probably if the roof were to be painted or wrapped black too it would look decent.

I'll be honest, the black roof completes the look on these mk2 fabias, especially since the roof 'wraps' around to just on top of the doors. Wonder if its possible to get a metallic black wrap? My cars roof is a metallic black to match the Monte Carlo trim, really pops in the daytime. Contrasts well with the white of the rest of the car.

I'd actually considered the green line spoiler but I wasn't sure if the spoiler wraps too far around the boot, when the roof is wrapped it might look strange. Might still consider it though, along with the Monte spoiler.

Sort of also considering an engine transplant on this. Depending on whether the missus gets this or I become too attached to this. I've considered the newer TSI engines, which I'd love to put in, but no idea on the work involved. Even the 12v I've considered putting in, but I know it's a lot of work for 10hp extra. The 1.4 and 1.6 I'm not sure about. I'd love to put a diesel engine in there as really I have far more knowledge of diesel engines than I do petrol, but I sort of enjoy having a petrol again after so long. A lot of choices and not really a big pay off for any of them, just more of something that I think would make this a little more interesting. Definitely a "just buy another car" thing, but just buying something else doesn't make for an interesting project.

1.8t swap from an ibiza has been done on the mk1s before, cant be too different for a mk2. I think TrevorB33s fabia has a 1.8t in it.

Yeah, but I'm wondering on economy and insurance costs. 1.8t gets 150ish bhp? Not that I'd complain at those figures just wondering whether long term reliability wise and running costs would it be worth it over a smaller N/A unit which has less power but less overall cost.

1.8t can make a LOT of power with just a remap, stout engines. Fabia mk1s were offered with a 2l 8v petrol, very rare cars but that would mean most of the stuff to shove a 2l in a fabia is available to get. I think swapping to a diesel unit would be too much work as you'd have to swap everything over. Atleast putting a different vw group petrol would mean you might be able to use the stock gearbox and stuff.

Would imagine the gearbox would have to swap as the ratios would be different. 1.8t would be incredible to stick in it but I'll have to do some research on how much work it is and what the mpg figures give, don't want to compromise my incredible £30 a week journey for what my old Leon used to give when it cost me £70 a week back and forth from work :D
