Strange exhaust gurgle

Featured Replies

Hi I've got a strange gurgle on my exhaust. It happens when cold and at temperature but only on idle. I do mainly short trips so initially put it down to moisture build up in the exhaust. But I gave the car a good run and the noise went but the next day it came back.

Any ideas anyone?

No idea !

But my 1.4 makes the same noise sometimes.

It will be water in the rear exhaust box from condensation.

The water will evaporate during a long run, but build up again with short runs on a cold engine & with cold weather.

Do you use eco driving mode? I notice this happens to mine when I use eco mode in cold or humid weather.

same here on octavia rs 2023 did u find any solution is it dangerous to drive like that?

You can drill a small hole at the lowest point of the silencer casing as a condensate drain.
