Reassure me please!

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Looking to switch out my stock indicator bulbs with the Phillips LED’s that Ive bought on a recommendation from a thread here on the forums.

Ive figured out to remove the plastic cover and access the two Torx screws to release the cluster but how the hell do i get it out from there!?

Seems super tight at the back end, is there anything else securing it to the body that I need to access somehow? Worried about using too much force incase of damaging anything.... Doesn’t seem to be any videos of anyone removing the rear light cluster on YT either to watch...

Anyone have any advice? Specific angles or motion to use to work the cluster out (and subsequently back in again after!!)

Many thanks!

They should come out pretty easily if you wiggle them out gently, I've replaced both reverse and indicator bulbs for LEDs.

One thing i would be really careful about is refitting them back...make sure the seal at the back is flush and wires aren't trapped somewhere. I've learnt the hard way and did get condensation in one of the rear lamps for about a year

just yank out the rear, by pulling the front part in a direction away from the boot.

its like a ball socket clip at the back of the tail lights.

Thanks guys! Just didn’t wanna pull too hard for fear of snapping a clip or something at the back that I didn’t know about.
will give it a go! Many thanks!

Try using some rubber gloves for extra grip on the fitting & pull straight back. I had similar problems when I did mine. In the end it's a case of controlled brute force but the gloves give you better purchase on the fitting.

My wife's marigolds did the job for me.

All done! Used a trim removal tool to help encourage the clusters out away from the body. Straight plug and play with the lights.
have taken a video with one LED and one Halogen. There’sa BC real difference however I’m not sure it comes across that well on the video with it being dark and night time. Will try one tomorrow daytime and see if it’s more noticeable.

Drop me a pm if you’d like the video and I’ll email it over as too large to attach here..
