Daylight Driving Lights

Featured Replies

It is supposed to be possible to activate daylight driving lights, which are the ones at the bottom. You are supposed to be able to do the activation by setting them up in the lights setup in the maxidot console. I have done this but they don't work. I have also tried turning on the engine with the indicator lever moved, as described in the manual, but this doesn't work either. Any ideas anyone please?

Hello,

This thread might be worth having a look at:

I suspect that it could be that your vehicle doesn't have the bulb provision, hence why they aren't activating?

Regards,

Dave.

Thanks for the help. I am a bit baffled as to how a top of the range model (Elegance)  has the layout for the lights but there is not the bulb provision. It is not clear under what circumstances they do work.

Have you checked the bulbs are actually installed, and they have not blown/broken? I spent some time fretting about why both fog lights weren't working on our previous fabia, only to find the filaments in both bulbs broken. No sign of bulb ageing or blown due to useage. Even though hardly, if ever used at all, I guess their position low down on the bumper subjects them to lots of vibration and occasional knocks.

Those filament bulb DRLs don't have a long life due to being a large bulb (21w iirc) on most of the time in that low down, prone to high vibration, position so the previous owner may have just turned off the maxidot option when one or both had blown. Like we did on our Octavia, when I couldn't pull the combined fog/drl housing out and didnt want to risk breaking something.

Thanks, fair point. I have seen a video where there is a dashboard warning when the bulb fails. I take it the DRL works OK on your Superb Mk 2? If I know it should work then it is just a question of fixing it. However if it doesn't work, say on UK cars then not so easy.

It's odd that you have the DRL option in the maxidot but they don't work and there is no bulb warning....

Anyway, it should be pretty obvious if the bubs are fitted on a 2010 Superb. Take a look at the fog/DRL units in the front bumper. If you can only see one bulb per side, you only have fogs, if you have two bulbs per side, it should be possible to enable DRL :)

Have you got any diagnostic equipment like VCDS? If not, I might be able to help as I'm in Cambridge most weeks.

Very kind of you to offer to help. I will try the obvious things first.

Does give you a warning if a bulb has failed, I kept getting a warning check right front day time running light.

Not 100% sure but do you not have to have the lights switched to auto.
Sure I’ve read something but could be totally wrong

Success! I changed the bulbs , grand total of £1.78 at Europarts. Used this video to change the bulbs. It didn't seem to work until I put the

light switch to the small square to the left. After that it seems to work on that and on auto as well. Thanks all for the help.
