Connect Lite trip data

Featured Replies

The "trip" function on my connect lite does not always show the route taken because of insufficient GPS data. Sometimes it shows the route other times it doesn't.

Anyone else have this problem and any idea what causes it?

I think it depends on your phone connecting with the data plug. If it doesn’t connect then no data is transferred. I tried setting phone to allow GPS etc to be used only when using app and found it rather inconsistent. Tried changing to allow always and phone chomped through a lot of my data allowance.

Data plug now resides in the glove box. Skoda connect Lite is as useless as the full version , which I refuse to pay £80 for.

I used to have the same problem with the VW app and my Golf. Sometimes it even stopped recording partway through a journey, so I always kept paper records rather than rely on it's recorded data.

Not sure this helps but the only times I have this problem is when my phone goes on battery saving mode.

My understanding is that GPS doesn't use up your data allowance.

I have a Zumo 550 satnav on my motorbike and no SIM card and used it for 10 years in my non satnav Yeti without any problems. For most of that time my phone was definitely not smart.

Well something about the Connect lite data plug chomped through my phone data, as it only occurred after I had installed said plug, and hasn’t happened since  plug was relegated to glove box :)

My ConnectLTE app has only used 52 meg since started using it, prob a couple of hundred miles and about a dozen journeys.  I’ve got a 1,500 mile trip planned next week, will see how much it uses on that.

Works perfectly every time for me and doesn't use much data at all this month about 220 miles and 7 Mb. I have a Moto G6 which is a few years old now.

Just done near enough 600 miles and the data used was the princely total of 6mb.  @Kenny R do you have an iPhone and can look in settings and see if the app is eating data?

Well, after refusing to pay £80 for Skoda Connect I was quite happily using the My Skoda app. Then Skoda decided to withdraw the My Skoda app and only have the one app.. Skoda Connect. This is when I found out on here you could get a data plug for under a fiver and use the Connect Lite app.

Quite happy with this option, till  the data usage incident and the data plug was shoved in the glovebox.

Looking for other options tried the new Skoda Connect, and found that I had full connection without paying anything. This worked fine till last week and email arrived telling  me my subscription was due to end 23rd April.
After seeing post on here, decided to try data plug again, and can happily report that app is working and I’m keeping a close eye on data usage and all seems well so far.

I think it’s the phone battery optimisation settings for the Connect Lite app. I have also allowed the app to use GPS data all the time. To be extra sure, I open the app before starting a trip.
