No boost up when I try to accelerate

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I have a 2011 skoda fabia 1.6tdi estate

recently I have had the EML light on the dash and I lost boost when accelerating, so had the diagnostics done. Came up with an issue for the auxiliary coolant water pump b, the additional pump.

Paid £165 for a new pump and had it fitted today EML is now off but I still don't have any boost when I try to accelerate any ideas?

Would be greatly appreciated

Did the garage forget to plug your turbo actuator back in properly or the MAP sensor or something else?

Yeah the aditional auxiliary water pump is all plugged back in.

The only thing that was unplugged was the pump and replaced with the new pump and plugged back in, we didn't need to touch anything else

So you're saying the two things are unrelated but coincidental and you've had the pump fixed but the boost issue remains?

If so then there must be another fault code, there's no way a modern cars ECU would fail to flag such a major fault.

Common issue with the TDI engines is a sticky turbo vanes as you have already had a diagnostic check the pressure switches would show a fault

I spent a load of money on sensors and new turbo pipes on my TDI and in the end the only thing that cleared the fault and brought the car back to life was a good turbo clean out

I managed to do mine by taking the exhaust pipe from the turbo and used Mr muscle oven cleaner on the vanes and kept moving the turbo actuator  back and fourth  until it moved the full amount and freely as before I started it only moved around 5mm but when finished moved around 20-25mm, the only thing you must do is complete the job in a day and get the car started to clear out the Mr muscle DO NOT LEAVE OVERNIGHT as some people suggest, there are a few videos on you tube showing this clean out but most show you some one spray the solution into the intake, I was not comfortable doing this so opted for a static clean out which worked fine for me put EML out and performance back to when car was new--- after a few smoky miles after cleaning
