Removing airbag connector from door panel

Featured Replies

I need to take door panel off so I can work on fixing regulator inside. I've read not to disconnect the airbag connector on the back of the door panel as it will need to be reprogrammed after reconnection. Can anybody confirm this before I disconnect it?

I dont believe that there is an airbag on the door panel or in the door on your vehicle, if there was there would be a warning logo moulded on the area where it would deploy.

I believe that you have one on the seat back side bolster and you may have an impact sensor within the door assembly probably on the crash beam.

Any airbag system component disconnected while the ignition is on/with battery not disconnected will result in a MIL light which can only be reset with a fault code reader, if you know that you have to disconnect something like the steering wheel airbag to replace the clockspring or the disable switch to remove the glovebox then disconnect the battery first and dont reconnect until the components have been reconnected.

Having done the same job a few weeks ago, there is a connector near the bottom left of the door (if it's the drivers door) that will throw an airbag warning light on the dash if you disconnect it. I used crista to clear the fault once the job was done.

So you only need to clear code, you don't need to reconfigure anything?

Correct, no reconfiguration required.
