Skoda Roadside Assistance

Featured Replies

Having bought a 71 Karoq as a pre registered purchase, is the vehicle covered by Skoda Roadside Assistance ? If not, is it good value compared to such as Auto Aid ? My wife`s Ford is covered with Ford Assist for free  after each Ford service.

You get Skoda assist for the first 3 years.

Thank you Kenny, good for that and reassuring.

AA came twice to me in the first 8 days as battery had died during long storage before sale and would not charge. Quick response both times and ensured the garage I bought the car from fixed the problem by going with me 25 miles to leave it there with their report on issues. And ensured I had a courtesy car for the 8 days it took to get and put in new battery. Apparently a faulty batch and loads of VW group cars with same issue as cars were sold out of shut down storage.

Skoda used to give you a paper handbook describing the scheme and the phone numbers to call. However this now seems to be out of print (unless your dealer still has a copy). But if you go to Roadside Assistance | ŠKODA UK (skoda.co.uk) you can find the details and download your own copy of the handbook.

And very good it is, too.  The Moll battery on my Yeti failed after 2 years and the car would not start one morning.  I called Skoda Assist and a Technician arrived within the hour. He changed the battery under warranty, coded it, and was away in half an hour.  Exemplary service.

CJJE & Robjon,           ,

Thank you both.  Saved me having to renew previous Breakdown, started in May, Karoq bought in Sept.

Also i still do prefer to have hard copy of details .

Being a pre registered vehicle I couldn`t obtain the Service Plan offered in new car sales. Is a service plan still the best

deal, as opposed to A la carte servicing ?

Cheers

Bushwacker

Service Plans come with various Service Work being done for the price paid,

So best look at the Servicing you want and that is in the Manufacturers Recommendations because Skoda do not call them Schedules.

No point paying through the nose if it is just  Oil & Filter & Inspection Services if the stuff like Pollen Filters, Brake Fluid Change at 3 years old. and anything else is at extra cost to what the Service Plane includes.

?

Are you buying the car and will it be a keeper for more than 3 years.

The Extended Warranty bought before the car is first registered can be well worth buying IMO.

When the car is already registered you can not buy until the Manufacturers 3 year warranty expires.

At my last service I got complementary full AA cover given, I have a 3 year old Karoq.

I did have to ask for it and point out it was in the Skoda services info.

Ah yes....I may be wrong here.....but is that from registration date or purchase date. My understanding is 3 years from registration date so it will be less from purchase date.

Makes things simple.  It lasts until the first MOT is due in the UK and the Manufacturer's Warranty expires unless an extension was purchased before first registration.

I wonder why the dealer decided to pre-register it and then sell it on in same month, instead of just selling it new to you.

Unlikely to have part month sales bonuses so seems like they just created extra admin, and lost you the chance to buy the factory extended warranty.  What am I missing that this benefitted dealer.

I have asked myself the same, though other dealers have said it’s to chase their quotas.

The principal dealer and sales execs need something to drive home in :)

Currently Skoda UK and the dealers seem to be offering a free renewal for the Roadside Assistance when you book your annual service online. This of course makes the servicing costs rather more reasonable!

I bought a pre reg Karoq sel. When I went to have a look, it was sat in the showroom with 8miles on the clock with a massive saving. It's sold as a used Skoda,I was told it's to hit their targets! With the price I'm not complaining. When I picked it up it was twenty days old with the remaining warranty.

Similarly bought pre-reg with a fairly massive discount.  She was a bit older, built July 19, registered end Dec 19 and I bought her with delivery mikes end June 20.  Lots of sitting around for her but doesn’t seem to have caused any issues.

Hi, My Karoq Edition was a few days old with under 10 miles….great deal.

Meadens  Brockenhurst. A company in Bolton had suggested to look out for pre reg deals…..

Hi Chris

I was just about to pay for this when I read your reply and asked at the dealer and had a year added straight away - thank you.
