My 2018 Karoq 1.0 SE has a rattle in the exhaust when engine hot, and spits water onto the garage floor. I don't mind the water but my main dealer can't identify the cause of the rattle. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Water coming from the exhaust is common when the exhaust system is cold and water vapour condenses, but seems unusual when it's hot. And the rattle could be a loose baffle in the silencer if there are no obvious ways the exhaust system could be knocking against something. Does it rattle when you are stationary or just when you're driving??

Hello

Finding my way around this website! Rattle only heard when car is stationary with hot engine still running running after driving. Dealer has checked the whole exhaust system but I have doubts whether they listened closely to the rattle. It can't be missed.

Hi, I guess you're in Dalgety Bay and the main dealer in question is West End Garage.  I'm a bit suprised they can't find your rattle as I've always found them to be pretty good.

However, if you're stuck, we do have a very good independent VAG specialist in Fife, Star Performance.   https://www.starperformance.co.uk

I've been going to Star for service and mods for getting on for 20 years.  In fact my Yeti is going there next week for a cambelt change.

Thanks and you are correct. I'll ask for another investigation while engine is hot.

Heat shield is my guess.

Make a video?

Thanks for comments. Booked in for further investigation next week. Silencer baffle sounds likely.
