Rear window demister needs repair

Featured Replies

I have some breaks in my rear window demister lines on the rear screen. Does anyone know who repairs these. I have seen kits for sale which is a paint on conductive paint. There must be a company that repairs these but I cannot find anything online.

I remember many many years ago fixing the heated rear window in a ford escort using a metallic paint. It did work but I did not have a steady hand for fine work so the breaks were rather blotchy. I am sure Skoda would be very happy to supply and fit a new rear window at an extortionate price :) If I was doing it again I would use a kit, masking tape, to get the line as thin as possible, and a fine paint brush. It just crossed my mind a kit the same colour as the heater lines would blend in better Joe

Check your insurance and see what your glass excess is (usally £50-75). Then you either take a hammer to it and call up saying you need a new one or speak to them about how you don’t feel safe driving it not having clear vision as the demister is knackered and see if they’ll arrange a replacement.
