Hello all,

 

I want to change the cambelt on my aef engine but I'm struggling to remove the old belt, I cannot get the bottom cover off because I cannot remove the crankshaft pulley, I though I would have to remove the hex bolts and the pulley would slide out over the crankshaft bolt but this doesn't seem to be the case, am I missing something or do I need to remove the crankshaft bolt as well?

Try the hammer approach 

In which case I presume that means it should slide off over the top of it. 

yes i think thats easy to see because the flange it sits on is a square type and the bolt is roung so you can check if the circle can be inscribed in the square
