Windscreen wash for passenger side and rear not working

Featured Replies

Can't find much info on this, so if anyone has anything to suggest or has had a similar issue that's been fixed it'd be much appreciated.

The driver's side windscreen wash works perfectly as it should, and in fairness probably clears 85% of the screen. But the passenger side and the rear side don't work at all.

I can hear the motor as I'm applying the action to both, but nothing comes out. I've done the pin in the hole trick and that did nothing, so likely there's a blockage somewhere. Are the passenger side and rear linked?

Phoned Skoda directly as a couple of local garages have told me they can't see what the problem is. Quoted me £120 just to diagnose the issue and the car would be required for the full 8 hours of the day (without repair). I mean, really? I don't really want to take 2 days off work just for this.

I have an MOT coming up in the next 6 weeks and was told by a local garage that it would likely that it would fail on these parts.

I'm based in South Wales, so if anyone can recommend some Skoda-savvy repairers that would be great!

It all depends on if your car is a Saloon or Estate (combi).

The Saloon models have known issues with the rear nozzles getting blocked up.  You can take off the cap to the rear nozzle and gently and patiently remove the jet and soak it in some vinegar and get out the grit.

In terms of the front jet nozzle - this is harder to clear.  I haven't done one of these before, so revert to other members for suggestions.

Could I ask if your washer tank has the appropriate gauze insert at the top of it?  If not, you need this to capture all of the tut from falling into the tank.

What screenwash do you use?  It is worth also putting in more contentrated screenwash if you are in a hardwater area.

Have you mixed windscreen washer additives? I've seen a mix of the VAG/Skoda screenwash and Holts produce a jelly like 'goo'.

Yerr - that's quite fun.  The only way around that is either diluting it or sucking out all of the goo and crud and starting again.  You really DON'T want to try and remove the washer bottle (involves removing front of car).

My rear wiper jet doesn’t work. Skoda replaced the jet but no water is coming through the pipe. My friendly mechanic tried a compressor to blow it through but no joy. Stumped as to where the blockage is as the pump runs fine. Skoda quoted £78 for a new pump so glad I didn’t need it.
