Cruise control intermittently not working

Featured Replies

First long drive in my new Karoq up to Yorkshire, after stopping at service’s cruise control would not reconnect and then over the next three day would work then would not, looks like it would not turn on.

is this a problem? Going to give the dealer a call tomorrow to see what they say but wanted to see if others have gad the same problem.

Ours does this now and again too, it always clears after a restart though and or switching off the ACC.

Mine did this just before battery failed. If the volts are low it doesn’t initialise

Happened couple of times in 3 years, restored after engine restart.

Mine will not reset with turning the engine off and on again, sometimes resets but not that often

Further to this on Wednesday started car stopped it went to restart and the battery was flat only clicking the starter motor, jump stared it and batter seem good as it I have restarted a few time now but the emission control system light is on.

Not sure this Is linked, would a flat battery cause this light to come on?

need to drive the car Monday as no trains to get me to work could only book it in to marshals Skoda for Tuesday

Maybe; I once had a display of warning lights like the Blackpool illuminations, with associated fault codes, and the base cause was the sprague clutch on the alternator sticking open.

Car went in today and apparently it’s my Garmin dash cam 65W with parking cable fitted that has flattened the battery low enough to up set the cruise control and the emission control system as I only had 9.1 volts in the battery, hey are disconnecting the permanent feed and charging the battery and resetting all the fault codes

going to cost me as it’s not something wrong with the car but what I fitted.

thought the Garmin parking cable did not drop the voltage down to far but turned off before then, not used the car that much due COVID.

lesson learned I think

Blackvue (and others) do a battery pack to power dashcams in parking mode and therefore you don't need the hardwire arrangement which, depending on make/model, can drain your car battery. I'm using a simple 2200mAh powerbank which provides the 5v the dashcam needs and lasts overnight. If it runs out of juice then yes I could miss something on the cam, but I'd rather that than drain the car's battery.

Thanks VRT24

was thinking about getting a power pack and using that for when it’s parked

Mick

Just be careful - proper dash cam power packs are fine to leave in extreme temps (inside hot car on sunny day) as they use special types of battery which can withstand this, but ordinary power banks use ordinary Lion batteries which can, and do, swell and in extreme case ignite in very high temps. I only use mine at night or for very short periods during hot days - don't want to come back to the smouldering remains of my car!

So it turns out that me fitting the parking mode cable to my car has damaged the battery so it’s not holding its charge now.

£230 for a new battery and £39 to have them tell me and remove the permanent feed to the dash cam.

hope to get the car back tomorrow and see how it goes from there, not sure if I fitted it incorrectly but follow what others have done on this forum seem like the battery was on its way out to start with but as I fitted the dash cam its down to me.
