New Superb Mk2 diesel estate, what to look out for.

Featured Replies

Just joined the forum. Recently bought a 77k 2 owner 140CR L+K estate after defecting from 90's Mercs. I've wanted one for ages and finally took the plunge.

I like to tinker a bit but this is also the first diesel car I have owned in 30 odd years of driving.

So far with help from posters and guides on here I have done the following:

Removed the wheelarch liners, cleaned out the compost and treated arches with B/H Dynax. New genuine Skoda mudflaps fitted.

Dismantled passenger wing mirror to fit new genuine led indicator repeater.

Cleaned seatbelts and fitted new car mats.

New rubber boot floor liner ( it's the rails but no sliding floor version)

Fitted  new oem led number plate lights and coded with vcds

I would appreciate any guidance from the experts on other areas to look out for and check with regard to keeping it dry ,rust free and mechanically happy.    Thanks all.

Some estates start to rust around the number plate lights. Maybe do a search and take some action before it starts.

Thanks for that, Its one reason I changed to oe led lights in order to get the others out and inspect the hole surrounds.

There is a bit of bubbling around one which has discoloured the clear plastic gasket. Doesn't appear to be much else as I had the number plate off as well.

Judging by the amount of compost behind the arch covers I am a bit worried about blockages in the drainage under the plastic cover under the front windscreen.
