Front right indicator not working. Octavia MK2 2008

Featured Replies

Hello all.

Brand new to the forum. I'm having an issue with the front right indicator. I have replacecd the bulb - No joy. Then check for voltage at the bulb terminals again had no joy here. All connections look clean and crisp. I then checked all fuses. I would like to find where the relays are located but not having much joy. looking about online some folks were suggesting the relay is actually housed in the hazard warning switch. Now i have removed this switch and the attempted to operate the indictors both ways but still having the issue of the front right not operating and them flashing double quick as they do.

Any ideas or pointer on this would be great guys.

Thanks in advance.

There is definitely no relay within the hazard switch as i have just had a second set of hands to get it apart.

Don't think you'll find a relay anywhere. They are driven by a microchip these days I believe. Inside the BCM.  Most likely a wiring fault between BCM and bulb holder.

If it was built before November 2008, the right front indicator bulb is fed by a black/green wire. This originates from pin 6 of a black 11-way connector at the onboard power supply control unit (BCM). It goes to pin 9 of the 10-way connector at the headlamp unit. If there is also nothing from side light and main beam in that light cluster, check the earth from pin 7 of the 10-way as it is shared between those two and the turn signal bulb.

I think the BCM unit is somewhere in front of your right knee if you drive a RHD car, and left knee on LHD. I'll have to leave detailed access information to someone who knows the Mk2 Octavia.

From Nov 2008 it is still same wire colour and connection at the lamp unit, but is now pin 50 of a brown 52-way at the BCM.

All I can think is loose connection, my front right full beam light goes off and the engine light come on. I find if I wiggle the bulb in its holder a bit the light comes on, it doesn't seem obvious to me where the bad connection is as the bulb sits on a metal slot but all I see is if I move the bulb a bit to one side then it comes on. After a small amount of time the engine light comes back on with the light not working again. Hence bad connection.

So try wiggling the bulb around in its holder with the indicator on.
