Skoda Connect renewal costs.

Featured Replies

Does anyone else think these charges are excessive?

I don't use the services very much, the renewal cost is almost as much as my mobile phone's annual bill.

I had an Audi A3 before the Kamiq and Audi offered the renewal free for the 3 years I had the car.

If you don’t use Connect much, buy a connect lite dongle from eBay, you can get VW branded ones for under £5.

You can the use the Skoda Connect Lite app which may have enough functionality for you.

Thanks for your reply, it sounds a good alternative.

However, I cannot find any reference to a VW Connect Lite anywhere, do you have anymore information.

There’s a link to one on eBay in my post above.

Thanks, definitely worth a try at that price.

Skoda connect at £44 you may not use it much but you will not get any map updates. Real time traffic alerts and more

Yes, I understand about the lack of updates and traffic problems, but I tend to use either Waze or Google maps via Android Auto. Both give you an up to date maps and traffic warnings.

I still think £44 is a lot of money for what you get, Skoda use the same internet connection supplier as Audi etc but their charges are excessive for the amount of data usage that most people will use

Bought it, fitted it and it works fine.

Good alternative system and much cheaper

It's not only the £44 but I have to send the money to Skoda's bank in the Czech Republic.  Heaven knows how I do this.  The local dealer and Skoda UK were absolutely useless.

You should be able to get your IBAN and BIC codes off your last bank statement. If SUK can't supply the relevant codes for Skoda Auto in Czechia then they "may" be missing a letter "c"...

I've now got the information from my bank but because the payment is to be made in pounds sterling, my bank says that I have to pay a fee of £20 so it is going to cost me £64 to update a satnav system on a car I bought 3 months ago. Why can[t I pay the money to Skoda UK?  This is a real rip off

Who are you saying are ripping you off here? SUK, Skoda Auto or your bank?

When I paid mine, I used my bank debit card, although the renewal portal said credit card or bank transfer.

Surely you should be paying skoda UK in pounds. No?

I'm saying that both Skoda and Skoda UK (I assume that they are one and the same) ripping me off by insisting that I pay the fee to the Czech company, which involves an international bank transfer, instead of to the UK company by credit or debit card which would be a UK transaction.  My previous car was an Audi and if I ever needed to buy anything I either went through the dealer or, occasionally, Audi UK.   Both the local dealer (Marshalls Northampton) and Skoda UK were unable to help and said that everything has to be done via the main Skoda company in the Czech Republic.  What's the point of having Skoda UK if they can't sort out something which should be as simple as this.

You would think so, wouldn't you?

Wrong. Skoda Auto are registered in Czeckia, SUK in the UK. I can't be bothered with the messing around with Companies House to confirm whether or not SUK are a subsidiary of Skoda auto (or indeed any other part of VAG) but importers often aren't. In any event, how does any advantage accrue to either of them because you pay a fee to a third party?

Because they are making life difficult for their customers

How? As above you don’t need to use the bank transfer method. Use your bank debit or credit card an no surcharges are added you pay the price advertised.

Just goto skoda-connect.com click the price and pay its just the same as buying online no exchange rate its in sterling. Or shop icon on your informant you can pay 6 month in advance of your renewal costs me £44 for connect

is not transferable from on car to another it stays with the car you have as I found out

Get a halifax clarity credit card ... no foreign fees

I was able to cancel the order I placed with Skodas head office in Czech Republic via the car and to reorder through Skoda Uks website. This was very easy to do in the end but Skoda UK must have known .
