DMF going?

Featured Replies

 Hi all
Further to my recent post about a slightly clicking/knocking sound when gently pressing the accelerator - may have always happened but never noticed - I'm now getting some vibration - not horrendous - but noticeable when accelerating - under load - in 1st -3rd/4th gears. Anything at speed Seems ok, when easing off accelerator it goes and working the clutch it goes. Therefore I fear the DMF. Question, if it is that, how long can you drive before sorting? I'm the first person to sort problems, but 2 weeks ago had the cambelt done and doing a defender rebuild, so shedding a near tear at spending more money on the Skoda or any vehicle this month! I have a long trip to Norfolk coming up so keen to sort before then, but will mainly be motorway driving, so may be fine? Never driven a car with a faulty dmf so not sure what the protocol is, most likely pay up and fix! Also, would clutch need doing at the same time?

Thanks all

I had a dual mass flywheel go on an Octavia Mk2 years ago, in fact when that failed, that’s when I found Briskoda. My DMF went within a couple of days of it starting to play up. Had to be recovered by the AA. Funnily enough, that was about 6 months after a turbo failure.

I've got the same issue on my VRS DSG DQ250 Gearbox. Vibration at lower revs. I think it is caused when one of the dampener springs cracks and the DMF becomes imbalanced.
