Cruise Control surging...

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I am wondering if anyone else has experienced the same issue as me.

When I set the cruise control to any level between 50mph-70mph I sometimes get what can only be described as a "surge" as the car is going along.  It feels like the the engine cuts then the gas is applied sharply.  It is like there is a momentary loss of power, I lose about 2-3mph then it resumes.

A couple of points:

I Think I have ruled out the collision detection system - This has happened on a clear road and the warnings have not gone off.

This has happened on level ground as well as going up and down hills.

It is a 1.0l SEL (95PS)

Any ideas!?

Normal my 1.0l done it and my 1.5 does it. It's  applying power on and of like if you put your foot on and of the accelerator and off you dont realy notice it if you are doing it

Mine appears to be the same, it goes perfectly for a short while then starts surging unconfortably so we disengage it

I've never experienced this except with AAC on when the car brakes and accelerates according to the traffic conditions and the setting of the AAC radar.

With my previous Fabia and a Merc before that, there was surge but this was always tied in with a drop down in gear, e.g. on an incline.
