We have an odd problem with our tailgate (1.5 Tsi SeL). 

 

Normally opening and closing is no problem, pull the rubber handle and the lid comes down as it should. 

 

However, we have been doing a lot of loading and unloading lately. If the lid is left open for any length of time it becomes very stiff to pull down. 

 

Anyone else had this problem.

Yep, especially in the sun / when it's hot.........I sometimes worry about the effort required that it might damage the struts. 

Same here, but its fine since 3,5 years

Mines the same if the car is in the sun and it gets hot, which is most days at the moment.

I think its the gas in the struts expanding, our Octavia did the same thing

Mine too and like everyone else  occurs when it's left open in the sun, all other times fine.

It doesn't need to be open, mines stiff after opening to put stuff in the boot,  only open for a second or two..
