Retro Fit Cruise which stalk?

Featured Replies

Ok going to retro cruise, but which stalk the one in my manual looks like 8L0 (upto 2001 roughly on vag parts) and in the guide on VR Stu's site I find it says to use the 1J0 stalk (according to vag parts roughly 2002 onwards). Are they interchangable? Mines a 2001 TDi...... Also anyone scan and email me the instructions for this updated version if it is compatable.

Thanks

Andy

Heres some pics. 8L0 is on the left, 1J0 on the right. I know Devontopia fitted cruise with Big K to a pd100 but stilll got the inplausable signal fault as if stalk not there. It appears though he was using the 8L0 stalk correct for the year. So on the 24th I have VR Stu help me (or me hindering him!) to fit cruise and we are using the other stalk. Anyone know if these stalks produce different signals????

9155.attach

9156.attach

I have the first type on the Octavia.

They both produce the same signals, its just the layout of the switches in the stalk that has changed.

Both should work on Fabia/Octavia cruise installs.

Andy, who installed your cruise? Sounds like a wiring fault to me.

I was editing the above whilst you posted thanks for the advice. Andy.

as per my PM - mine's the one on the left too - I don't recognise the one on the right. Maybe from a previous gen or other VAG car?

The one with the sliding switch was replaced by the other one because operating the + function on the sliding switch is a pain (thats what I read on UK-MKIV's anyway)

Have you tried logging the cruise inputs with VAG-COM ?

Both are suitable.

Phil - He hasn't got cruise fitted yet, he's getting it on the 24th, so he won't have anything to log.
