What is included in the spare wheel foam insert?

Featured Replies

As per question, just wondering what tools are included in the wheel insert. My car didn't come with a wheel or an insert, so just want to get all of the tools to change a spare.

Is it worth getting the foam insert? I posted recently after my boot liner collapsed in on the wheel well, and have a temporary solution using plywood (as suggested by someone on here.)

I've picked up a spare alloy but I guess I still need some kind of insert otherwise the ply will potentially just bow into the alloy instead of the wheel well?

This is my spare tyre with insert. Never used it, but you get a jack, wheel nut spanner and towing eye in the insert. Looks like there's some sort of allen key thing, too.

Not sure where the locking wheel nut dongle is...

Edit: Oh! There it is, to the right of the towing eye. :)

It's under the strap twist to the right of the spanner and the cap extraction tool is just below it!

Thanks guys, so it sounds like to change a wheel I would need:

  1. Jack - (Was planning to buy a new one)
  2. Wrench / wheel brace - (I have these)
  3. Locking nut - (I have this)
  4. Cap removal tool

Is that right? If so, is there an alternative to a cap removal tool or is it one of those annoying things where you need the actual tool otherwise you end up scratching / breaking the cap?

Sounds about right, but not sure what this thing is.

Also now wondering if my 16" spare wheel will clear my brake disks which seem to only just about fit under 17" wheels.

Pretty sure that's an allen key to remove the rear lights :)

There's also a wire hook which is used to take off the cover on the rear lights to get to the torx screws securing the lights. It's mentioned in this post.
