Air con query Citigo

Featured Replies

Hi, after my car went in for a service at an independent garage the a/c stopped working. The light doesn’t come on the a/c button & there’s no cold air.

The garage says it probably needs a regas but it’s weird how it was working before and I’m not sure does the light on the switch still come on if it’s needs regassing?

The light should probably come on no matter what....  All it does is engage the compressor.

Could be a fuse, or a bad connection.

If the Aircon worked before going to the garage, it seems likely that they messed something up.

As @freemansteve says, it's probably a fuse or a pulled connection. If the CitiGo is like other VAG cars, some of the fuses are just above the battery rather than in the dashboard fusebox.

The fuse carrier  on the battery/engine compartment  houses fuse for a/c blower and rad fan combined -position 2 (second from left). The air conn feed fuse is in the main fusebox, position 1 (first fuse ,top left).  Low gas means less cooling effect .

Fuses only blow for a reason.Suggest you speak to the garage concerned,as they have been paid for a job........

Just check that the garage have not turned off the fan on the heater controls. I don't know why garages do this, but they do. If the heater fan setting is '0' then the A/C light will not illuminate as the system only engages if the fan is on.

Good point!

I must admit my fan is always on "1" or above....

And yes, fuses blow only rarely - usually it's human error, unless it's a headlight bulb that has also blown!

Well, my local garage does this to stop it draining the battery when they leave the car engine off, ignition on during service.

Aha! So now I know why they do it!

Now, have they done it in this case and this explains the lack of A/C?
