What are the stock brakes on a VRS TDI?

Featured Replies

Recently bought a diesel VRS, can't seem to find out what brakes it's fitted with...the calipers are red - but I'm inclined to think they won't be brembos (even though they are actually pretty good so far.)

Any info would be great.

Cheers

The brakes are single piston type design. However if you have the pre face lift TDI like mine you will have the 340mm disks fitted. On the face lift they fitted the 312mm disks. In fairness they are more than enough for the car and worked perfectly well on my mk2 with 280bhp.

No it was from MY16 on the pre-facelift so a 2017 is likely to have the smaller 312mm disks

Calipers are made by TRW, nothing wrong with them and either size is fine. What you lose in heat capacity and ultimate stopping power you gain in unsprung mass.
