Central locking button (internal) hardly works

Featured Replies

I have a 2007 L&K Mk2 Octavia estate and my lock/unlock button besides the handbrake has become really unreliable. I say that because it does actually work on occasion but I haven't worked out if its a solution on repeated pressing or if it depends on how much pressure is applied.

I suspect the adjacent light socket has something to domwith it as they went titts up around the same time. One thing I should say is that somehow a pen got wedged into the lighter socket with some other bits of debre...when we pulled the pen out the pen was very hot. Electrics are something I know nothing about but I wonder if that pen screwed things up somehow because the socket and central locking button are very close to each other.

Would love some guidance?

I also have an '07 Octy and whilst I cannot claim your pen adventures I too have problems with the lock button being intermittent.  I was looking at replacing it until I discovered that I could get the "all unlock" action by double-clicking the fob unlock button - remembering to leave a short pause between presses,  I haven't tried the opposite - double click to lock all - but I'll try to remember to do that next time I'm at the car.

Remove the switch, inspect and test.

given its position, its probably the switch is full of 14odd yrs of fluff and gunk. take it out, clean it, good dose of contact spray cleanerer and let it dry.

try it again.

Thanks! Better price than the one I found :)  Now ordered and en route.

I got a new set of drivers door window switches for mine on there for under £4 feel better quality than the factory ones replaced (drivers window switch wasn't doing auto down anymore common fault).

Yeah that too. Had to change my fob battery  but since I did, the all windows down or up command don't work. I followed those weird instructions to get it working again but nothing
