Mark 2 or 3?

Featured Replies

I have an Octavia with an issue I wish to ask about, but am not sure of where to find if it is a Mark 2 or 3. With my usual luck, the car has a delivery date of December 2013 which could tip it into either camp! Any easy way of checking?

The first few characters of your VIN will tell you.

You need to look a bit further on - positions 7 & 8 IIRC; 1Z is a mk2, 5E is a mk3

Take a look at the headlights as they're easy to tell apart :D

A FL-MK2 looks like this:

A pre-FL MK3 looks like this:

Thanks for the help guys!

Checked the headlights and that confirms your diagnosis. Also note that the wing mirrors are different between the pictures of the 2 and 3.
