Steering wheel faults ???

Featured Replies

Hello people.

Could do will some help with my skoda octavia vrs 2008 tdi.

Cruise control has stopped working. I have followed the nice institutions that are one here for cleaning the switch on the stork and cleared the codes but still no joy. I have done a full diagnosis check and these faults have been logged. Please see the picture.

Many thanks

Are your brake lights working? I had the same problem on my Octavia and it was a duff brake switch. The brake switch cancels cruise control when breaking.

Assuming those codes are coming back when they are cleared, it suggests:

- you need a new ignition switch

- there is still an issue with the CC switch

I'd probably start by replacing the ignition switch and while the steering cowl is off, check the connections for the stalks are in good condition.

Dose the ignition barrel require coding or is it plug in and go???.

Just wondering if the steering wheel module is playing up???..

No coding needed for the ignition switch. There not an uncommon failure as I had to replace the one on my old Octavia.

There are a few styles so if possible I'd check what you have before buying a replacement.

I think the steering controller is fine given the faults you have.

Thanks for the information. Only ask as the part no 1K0 953 549 BN on the top of the address 16 is pointing to the steering wheel controller.

Do you think they maybe a broken wire on the cruise control ???...
