Octavia 2021 1.5 etech engine

Featured Replies

Dear friends

I write about it, but it's bothers me!!!

The 1.4 Octavia that I had feel much stronger the the 1.5

Especially in ascents in the 1 2 gears.

Is it normal , or something is wrong ?

A mechanic told me that  after more or less 5000 km Im going to feel the same as the 1.4 feeling and the fuel consumption will  get better - is that make any sense ?

Thank you

Engines do need a run in period. Looking at 0-100 times it's not slower, so maybe that is it.

i have driven a Octavia  1.0 e-tech (Mild hybrids) and it felt very good with good take off from a standing start. I would hope a 1.5 e-tech would be much stronger.

Engines really do not need run in to get better fuel consumption,

but tyres do and need the pressures checked and reset and 'Brakes need driving in' as they are at their thickest when new, discs and pads.

The 1.5tsi e-tech is a mild hybrid so is pulling away on electric drive is it not?

Very different from a 1.4 TSI pulling away in 1st and 2nd.

E-tech provides a short burst maximum of 50Nm of additional torque (only) when pulling away. The engine provides the majority of the motive force all of the time.

Question is how much less maximum torque can the 1.5tsi develop than the 1.4tsi at idle/low rpm, thinking of WLTP complaint's and kangaroos. They may have tweaked it further down in this incarnation knowing that there is some assistance from e-tech.

All that was needed to assist those that complained of wheelspin when taking off with 1.5 TSI,s and even 1.0tsi,s .  Now smoother take offs are there if you want and if you need a shift on floor the accelerator.    Or so the theory seems to have been with the VW Group.   Drivers will be those that have to live with it as there are not trying to replicate the WLTP or RDE2 that matters so much to how VW engineers vehicles now.
