1) It feels completely different to be honest. If the Fabia has a 10 mph rolling start, it takes the Octavia until around 80 - 90 mph to reel it in, then passes it and leaves it behind like the Fabia dropped a parachute. From a standing start, the Fabia puts up a good fight, again up to 80 ish. Standing 1/4 is around (unofficially timed on a gtech meter) 1.5 secs faster in the Octavia, with the terminal speed being 12 mph higher.

2) Good question - Octavia handles "better" in the respect that it takes the bumps and corners with more poise and control, but the brakies on the Fabia make for much later braking, so on my particular favourite twisties, both cars are still around the same times. Better brakes on the Octavia should put things right on that score. The road in question is only short, and is a bumpy B roads. On A roads, no comparison - Octavia every time.

In summary then, Fabia is more "Fun" on B roads and roundabouts, but overall, Octavia is more rewarding to drive, and quicker point to point.

Having driven both to the cars limits on the 100 mile route for the Blackpool drive, I will be taking the Octavia on the day

Right. Being "one of the four adrenaline seekers" after the C&F meet I can definately say I was stunned by Dave's Octavia.

It has the Fabia's torquey push in the back, but for 7K+ revs, through all the 6 gears. Awesome.

The suspension setup amazed me just as much. With the five of us in the car, it not only went like stink but it handled extremely well. Like people have previously said, the setup is just right.

As for is his Fabia as quick? - My car is pretty similar spec to Dave's, having the same map, suspension, brakes and rear arb setup. I didn't go head-to-head from a standing start but on the motorway we both booted it and I kept up with him until he gained quite considerably by which point I think he would be struggling to find me in his rear view.

However, the Fabia is a lot more "chuckable" and hence I'd maybe say the Fabia is more fun to drive, which a few will agree on.

Both are excellent cars to begin with, and with a bit of tweaking really stand out from the crowd.

A bit of a poor show if you did as I was certainly under the impression that you hadn't done anything to your car and so were getting a bit of an unfair poking by skoda. I'm not wanting to start up that subject again, but I'll feel like a right royal *** if you had the mods done and people were complaining about skoda in the thread.

Intercooler is a huge front mount, in between the radiator and ac rad.

As said, it is stage 2.

Yeah i know that shifty, and I don't agree with what going on what is on t'internet and all as I expressed in my original posts back on that rapid growth thread. Sure you know where I am comming from, but glad you are happy with the car.
