Air Conditioning Service Options

Featured Replies

The air con system in my Superb has never been re-gassed and the car is approaching 7 years old.

Air con still working but not quite as cold as it used to be.

I see the main dealer are wanting £140 for an air con service, whereas other independents are charging around £60.

Not being familiar with the process, are there differences in air con servicing i.e just a basic re-gas or do some add lubricants/dye etc or is this incorporated into any refrigerant change ?

Just want to be sure I get the right thing and know what to ask for (without being ripped by main dealer prices again !).

I have found a good local garage that I have started putting the car into but always like to gauge against what the main dealer is offering.

Thanks

I'd go for a cheaper place. I've had mine done at Kwik Fit in the past and no problems on my Octavia.

They basically just hook it up to a machine and it does all the pressure testing and everything. They look up the vehicle to see how much gas and lubricant it needs and fill it up after vacuuming all the old stuff out.

The same machine will likely be used at the dealer.

Just had my 1.4 TSI Aircon re-gassed too. Took it to the German equivalent of Kwik Fit and it's blowing ice cold again. Haven't been done since new (2012 car).

Edit explaining price difference.
