Tailgate badge gone walkabout

Featured Replies

A rather expensive trip to the DIY centre. When I left home I shut the tailgate and I had a Skoda badge. Walking back to the car in the car park I was greeted with a black plastic disc! The badge had gone. As it was a busy car park I have to assume it fell off during the journey as I think the craze for collecting car badges (fortunately) passed a few years back. And there's no sign of damage.  I've ordered a new one from Caffyns (£27 including the postage) but before it arrives has this happened to other people and, for when it arrives, is it a simple push fit over the plastic moulding, does it need fixing with double sided tape (although there's no sign of this on the moulding) or is it the worst case scenario of the whole badge has to be replaced with the tailgate trim having to come off etc.

On the plus side, the car is now 8 years old and I've had to spend very little on it in those years and I've still no intention of getting rid of it.

Its a complete disc inc the black plastic backing, you'll need to get the black plastic thing off, do a search on here, suggestions have been made, if you have some dental floss that might work  -  note there are 2 mounting lugs horizontally across the diameter

Yes, happened to me on my 2011 Yeti. I have not bothered to replace it...

But I am most grateful to Urrell for the youtu.be link should I ever do so.

Thanks gents, watching the video it looks like it's just care and patience required.

For the benefit of anyone else with the same issue I also found this video, same process different tools.

Hairdryer and a plastic cycle tyre lever got them off easily when the white worm got mine, replaced with the newer black and silver type which I think make the car look a bit fresher
